Notation

The form of notation I have used in this book is somewhere between standard notation and guitar tablature; 'noblature' or 'tablation' maybe. The reason for this is that standard notation or tablature on their own would be insuffucient for representing Nick Drake's music; firstly because the non standard tunings would make standard notation very difficult to translate onto the guitar, and secondly, due to the complex syncopated patterns in much of Nick's music, tablature, with it's usual lack of rythmic indication, would be fairly useless. Basically I have used tablature with quaver markings etc, plus also chord boxes is some cases.
