I think it was released by Island on CD:

In The Pink Moon Files (page 72) one can read Joe Boyd does not recommend the album because of its "inferior sound".

Certainly does seem to be an official Island release

It is inferior in terms of harmony also. Trevor Dann compiled the thing and, with the best of intentions, tracked the songs in order of recording/release beginning with those from Five Leaves Left and ending with those from Pink Moon, which in my opinion is an act of utter stupidity! (It was released in 1985 on vinyl, then again in 1990 on CD)

While on the other hand Way to Blue compiled by Joe Boyd in 1994 on his Hannibal label is far superior; the tracks flow together to pure wonderment and leaves one feeling weightless. Incidentally Way to Blue was my introduction to Nick Drake ten years ago.

Can't imagine listening to "Black eyed dog" off the Way To Blue too much though!

a little hard to take - maybe "Mayfair" or something would've been more "Pleasant Listening"!
