There was a sad article in the newspaper today about a young woman who died after taking amitripyline. The verdict was accidental death, but the cause of death was the same as Nick - her heart stopped. What made me write this was that it was clear she took no more than 4 tablets. Nick's father has stated that 'he took the whole lot', but it is clear that didn't necessarily imply it had to be '30 tablets' as some have suggested. Just a few tablets over the normal dosage really is enough.

So glad I flushed mine down the toilet when I was prescribed them some years back.

Sadly, Seran, we see that the time has told us... we don't have to be a doctor, just some observation through the time to understand that scientists and phisicians don't have all the answers about medicines they prescribed in the past, are prescribing now and will do in future.
One doesn't have to take a "whole lot" to have a cardiac arrest. And the accumulated effect of certain meds in the system is enough to hit a vital organ.
