Thanks. Strange thing is that I registered to receive updates, but didn't get this one. On the blog you can also read Joe Boyd will write the introduction.
This will be the cover:

I must say that I'm sorely tempted to get this. I know its likely to be very expensive, but it could be a good investment type of thing. I'll want to see it first, so hopefully the publishers will allow people to see and touch it before paying. _________________ I have stolen a man

It looks beautiful. I'm not surprised by the (comparatively) small amount of pages - we all know there aren't masses of Nick photos to choose from in an effort to fill the book!

I've been exchanging email with someone at the publishers. It does sound as if its going to be a lovely book. Just a few points though - its dimensions are actually 24" high x 18" wide when closed (sorry for 'old' measurements ). Also, some photos may straddle pages - which I'm not very happy about. A photographer goes to great lengths to compose an image and presenting it with a page break doesn't do it justice IMHO. Still, I'm soooo tempted to buy this! _________________ I have stolen a man

Orders are now being taken at http://www.snapgalleries.com/oyp/nickdrake/. It looks stunning from the preview, and as promised there are some photos included in it.
Here are the images currently uploaded to the Snap Galleries page:

| I'd hoped for a bit lower price than £ 395 (ex. shipping to Europe: £ 65). Although I can afford it.... this is just too much. |

I'm virtually salivating. There are a couple there I hadn't seen yet, and they're just so beautiful. _________________ Hoping to find new ways of doing better than my worst |

It looks beautiful, there are a few 'new' pictures in it - mainly just shots we've seen before from slightly different angles.
But can I justify spending £300+ on a book?
Sadly not I think, shame... _________________ www.thewindmillsofyourmind.com |

I know how you feel. It brings up the question where admiration begins to flow into worship. Buying a book for 500 Euro from a dead artist feels very much like the latter. Which brings me on the thought of who benefits from this? If Nick had been alive and his family would have asked for a donation to help him with financing a health issue (like a couple of musicians have done lately, like the late Mick Karn from Japan and Stanley Whitaker from the progressive band Happy The Man), I wouldn't have hesitated, but in this case I do. |

| Apparently the estate have had a few complaints about the price of the book (although the estate have nothing to do with it - it was arranged by Keith Morris's estate) |

Can't see the point in complaining about it. If they can sell copies for £300 they will - that's capitalism!
Sadly it just means I won't have one. I'm sure within a few weeks of it coming out all the 'new' pictures will be online anyway! _________________ www.thewindmillsofyourmind.com |

I'm not sure they'll sell them quickly. After all the book on Bruce Springsteen - and we may consider him a real world star when you could count his fans - is still available and they made 500 copies of that one as well. Maybe in a year or two we'll get a discount.... |

It is so expensive ...
I want it, though. But I need to know if is safe to place a pre-order, before I sell my soul to get it.
No, seriously, is just too much money. Publishers seem reliable. What do you think? |
