Nick taught me how harmonic textures work in music. His fingerstyle approach makes those maj7s, sixths, etc. stand out. I learned how to color my musically harmonically from his albums. I also adopted his soft singing-style. I mimick the close-mic techniques found on his three albums. I share Nick's love of blues; he is the man who got me into the 1920s and 30s blues. The blues (and Nick's bluesy feel) has taught me to be myself in my music. On this song, I think my borrowing of Nick's natural imagery, specifically metaphor, is most prominent.
