Thank you Nick Drake for taking me to a melancholy place somewhere in time. Your music gently pierces my soul and carries me far away.
Your songs are eternal but discovered by so few, analogous to a golden temple deep in a jungle somewhere. After hacking our way through so much foilage we find ourselves in a clearing where stands infront of us a glimmering monument, a shrine to a lost, discovery yearning emotion known as Nick Drake.
By chance I found his messages, as though they were placed in a bottle and cast to sea to be found only by the chosen.
And now that I have, I shall carry them with me wherever I go, on my stereo, in my car, on my guitar.
So difficult to recreate, an encrypted message, dig as deep as you want to go. How deep did you want us to look Nick? Yes, many tunes pleasant and sunny on the surface, but listen harder and you will hear the pleading in the drizzle of the rain and the desperation for an answer to it all.
'Betty said she prayed today, for the sky to blow away, or maybe stay, she wasn't sure' (Riverman).
I'm not looking for an answer. There isn't one. There is a way, and Nick Drake is the musical score for it.
Thanks for reading. E-mail me anytime.
