I can't think of anything more frustrating than trying to learn some of these songs (Road, From the morning)
I'm limited by the fact I just have an Applause acoustic, so I try not to use too many different tunings !
I like playing From the morning in standard tuning, with the suspended chord, rather like that version on the Blend tribute; otherwise I break strings fiddling with the first string!
Joe, though I do know Applause is Ovations economy guitar line, that shouldn't affect strings popping. If that is what you are referring to, a great way to curb that problem is to wrap the strings multiple times around the machine (tuner head) before securing them and tuning up. The tension remains the same but it keeps the strings from getting fatigued at the tuner. If you already knew all of this, I apologize for going on.
