Can anyone tell me why the Gathering is held around July 19 and not June 19 (his birthday)?

It is in the summer because of camping and bookings in the church and town hall. It is also around festival times and before the children break up. Everything was taken into consideration so it could be kept free for the fans. They do not get funding from anywhere but donation and was created so performers who really loved the music could at least pay a tribute to Nick and could you get any better than to play near his grave. I hope this helps. If you need more info I can help but it would probably be better to e-mail one of the organizers.
