Yeah..I am a classical guitarist who covers a few Nick Drake songs for fun. I covered "Cello Song" and never had to change any string tunings. The opening chord is just the outlines of a D7 chord, playing the fifth, A, on the 1st string. Then the part with the cello is an A major chord with an open B-string instead of a C#, again playing the A on top. Then..your V chord, D...just a bar chord...then the only other chord is a VII6 chord...G chord with B in the bass, then on 2nd string, D, C# open B...no changed tuning?
